Safe Walking Routes

Overview

As much as possible, carpool or walk your student to/from school. Coordinate with neighbors and create a “Walking School Bus” so students can walk together.

Campus opens at 8:20 AM Tuesday-Friday,
9:20 Monday
Breakfast doors open at 8:20 AM.
School doors open at 8:25 AM
All students arriving on campus before the doors open will line up on their classroom number on the blacktop.
Students arriving after 8:35 AM will need to go to the main office for a late slip.

Arrival Information-1st Bell @ 8:30 AM-School Begins @ 8:35 AM

The Carson parking lot is ONE way.
There is no parking, waiting, or dropping students on 182nd ST E (by portables). Please pull into the bus loop.
Please do not block intersections or crosswalks.
If choosing to park on 90th AVE E, please park in the direction of traffic. Do not block or remove cones. Do not block driveways. Do not block mailboxes. Be kind to neighbors.
Do not double park.
Please be kind and follow staff directions.
Please note the playground is closed until 3:30 each day. Thank you for picking up students and exiting the campus promptly.

Walkers

Drop Off - Grades K-3 Main Entrance (184th)

Please pull all the way forward on the yellow curb before allowing your student to exit the vehicle.
Students should be ready to exit the vehicle when you enter the parking lot.
Drivers, please stay in the car. Students need to be independent exiting the car.
Students will exit on the curb side only.
Kindergarten guardians will need to park in a designated parking spot and walk students to their line up location on the playground.

Drop Off - Grades 4-6 Bus Loop (182nd)

Students in grades 4-6 or families with students in both the primary and intermediate grades may drop off students in the bus loop.
Please yield to bus traffic and daycare vans.
Please pull all the way forward on the yellow curb before allowing your student to exit the vehicle.
Students should be ready to exit the vehicle when you enter the bus loop.
Drivers, please stay in the car.
Student will exit on the curb side only.
It is a right turn only when exiting the bus loop

Walkers

Pick Up - Grades K-3 Main Entrance (184th)

Pick up is done in two ways at this location. Families who park in a designated parking spot, meet students on the playground at their classroom room number. Kindergarten will meet at their classroom door or an assigned location.
Please DO NOT make arrangements to meet your student at the flagpole, side door, portables, gate, etc.
Families that pick-up students on the front curb, please pull all the way forward when you arrive (even if you see your student) and staff will assist in getting your student to the car. Please stay in your vehicle.
For safety, students may load ONLY in the lane closest to the curb and only on the curb side.
If arriving early, please pull all the way forward on the yellow curb.
Do not block empty parking spots or park in the red fire lane.
In the event of an emergency, please listen to staff and respond immediately to requests.

Parent Pick Up - Grades 4-6 Bus Loop (182nd)

Priority entrance is given to school buses and daycare vans.
When entering the bus loop please pull all the way forward on the yellow curb. Students may only load in the yellow zone.
Do not park in the entrance to the Ashford neighborhood.
Cars need to cue for pick up on 90th AVE E, facing the bus loop. Drivers MUST stay in the car. Do not block driveways. Please enter the cue by turning on 179th ST E from Gem Heights.
Cars may not wait or park on 182nd ST E. (By portables)
Students may not load on 182nd ST E. (By portables)
If choosing to park on 90th AVE E, please park in the direction of traffic. Do not block or remove cones. Do not block driveways or mailboxes. Be kind to the neighbors.
Please do not block or park close to intersections or crosswalks. Do not double park.
You can and will be ticketed by the Pierce County Sheriff for not obeying traffic laws.
Right turn only when exiting the bus loop.
